Running SharpMap as offline client?

Hi all,
is it only possible to run SharpMap from a Web application server? Or is it possible to embed one or more components directly into an html page for offline usage (using relative paths to data)?

If it isn't currently possible, do you expect it to be after the arrival of SilverLight?

Hi Ian,

Theoretically, you could run SharpMap with the WinForms UI as a .Net Browser Control (which is like a Java applet, but it's .Net) or you could also run it as a ClickOnce application, which gives more of the offline experience you are looking for.

It would almost certainly run well as a ClickOnce full trust application, although I suspect it would have some problems running as a partial-trust application, depending on if you are loading native DLLs (like the GDAL dlls are).

A .Net Browser Control, which in my experience isn't well supported, would probably require you to modify the code to get it to work.
