Hi,

It depends on:
- size of data
- what do you want to do? query, just showing data
- web or desktop app

if you have your data in shapefile try to load them into sql server
and compare the performance. if you have a result, please report it.

It's a MapInfo map about Budapest which is the capital of Hungary. I'd like to query data, show the map, and make it possible to put object into the map, like houses. (it would be a new layer or something).

and it would be a web based application. I have tab, map..etc files and I can transform them to shape file. Can i Transform them to SQL Database format?

I seemd to easier the open the shapefile with the Shapefile provider, but I'm just a beginner in this field.

Hi,

I would suggest to take the shapefile and try a little bit.
Be aware that the attribute filtering of a dbf file isn't indexed by now.

Hello!

What does it mean exactly?

"Be aware that the attribute filtering of a dbf file isn't indexed by now."

Is it means that working with a shape file will be slower instead of loading data from PostGis?
