My name is Eliécer Garita.

I need to create a Compact Framework based application (C# 2005).

This appliaction should make a query in a shape file. I don't need display this in a map control, only to get the fields data, using the coordinates x,y.

For example: a post office need store in her database the neighborhood's name of each costumer. Each employee have a Pocket PC. In the Pocket PC is stored a shape file whith data about all neighborhoods in the town (including the streets name).

The PDA has a GPS to get the exact position. When the employee comes to a customer, starts the application, the PDA gets the coordinates (x,y) and after, makes the query to the shape file to get the neighborhood's name using the position.

¿Can be made the spatial query in the shape using SharpMap?

Hi egarita -

The SharpMap shapefile provider, and SharpMap in general, to not currently natively support the Compact Framework. There is a number of other SharpMap users and developers interested in this, however, so you might be able to check out the work they have done. Look at the CompactFramework tag on this discussion list.
