Hi Everyone

I'm new to SharpMap in particular and GIS in general. I need to render street maps (used in a GPS application) in a way similar to the way its done in google maps.
However - when I'm adding the roads layer I only see simple (ugly) lines ...

Can SharpMap be used (even with some extra coding on my part) to render roads & streets in the same way as done in google maps ?

Thanks in advance

Hi liron, I am not sure exactly what you mean...
Do you mean that you want to style different features in the same layer according to an attribute in the data, for instance change the width of a line depending on the number of carriageways,
or just add things like outlines to make it more interesting?
For the first have a look at CustomTheme and for the second check out VectorStyle.
There is also a patch available to allow labeling along a line..
So while maybe not quite up to google maps you can get a decent result...  hth jd
