Brutile Tile fade in

Hi all,

How difficult would it be to implement some kind of tile fade in effect like you see in the brutile silverlight demo? (

I ask because it gives the illusion of a much smoother load than blank tiles.

presumably it would require some kind of buffer around the edge of the map to prefetch those tiles for zooming out

This is something that will be included in SharpMap V3 where we'll rewrite much of the rendering pipeline.
Implementing it in SharpMap 1.0 would be quite difficult as it is written today.

I know R1 only just released, but out of interest is there a roadmap of V3?

How far in is the source code for V3?

Will it have support for WPF/directX rendering?

Regarding rendering,

The plan for V3 is to make the rendering pipline more separated (some kind of MVVM pattern) and support different backend-renderers (GDI+, WPF, DirectX, OpenGL, ...) via a plugin-architecture..

The scope if V3 is not finally decided but the sharpmap trunk is now moving against V3 with pace decided on time available for the developers....

will some of the MapSui code be merged to sharpmap instead of having 2 different projects?

I would absolutely love to see this feature added. Are there any news in this regard?
