change from OpenLayers to SharpMap ?

Hi,

I´m very new in SharpMap.

I´am using OpenLayers with TMS-Tilecache on Server to show a map with many markers.

But OpenLayers.java is very big (ca. 500-800 kB to download each time).

I want to change the (client)-system to a (server)-system.

Can I use SharpMap to show the map in the same way in ASPX -Sites ?

 - using TMS-Tilecache

 - scroll and zoom into the card

 - show markers (with click-event and show Popup) ??

in ASP.Net 2.0 ???

Thanks

Hi Byterider, OpenLayers is a much more complete api for client side. SharpMap is more a renderer and simple client for itself (no awareness of tilecache, no popup api). Personally I would stick with OpenLayers reducing the size of the script by removing unneeded functionality.. there are python scripts to build custom configurations included in the build directory of the OpenLayers source. Remember also that downloading it should be a one time hit and cached thereafter by the client browser also js compresses very well so while the file size may be 800K it may only be ~80K when streamed.

Hi,

thanks for fast answering!

The script loads ca. 7 seconds. This is very long.

But I don´t know hot to remove unneedet functs....

But for this ask on OpenLayers-Forum.

But can I render a map from TMS-TileCache (downloaded from OpenStreetMap- cards)

with no WMS-Server.... ??

Greetings
