An Image over Shapefile

Probably I don't know all about shapefiles. The shapefiles that I use with Sharpmap are composed by lines. This files are planes.

This planes are very simples and I need a more complex plane. I don't know if I can put labels, signs or another kind of symbols in a shapefile. I think that I can put an image with this kinds of symbols like a layer of the shapefile. With that I probably obtain a georeference image. It's that possible? Can I add a image in a layer in Sharpmap as big as the shapefile and use this image as a georeference image?

Briefly, I need a more complex shapefile, a shapefile like a complex map.

Sorry, but it's very difficult for me to express my ideas in English.

Thanks in advanced.

What kinds of map do you use with sharpmap? Shapefiles or georeferenced images?

Hi VansFannel,

You can use both Shapefiles and georeferenced images. You just add one layer for each type. Does this help?

Hi codekaizen,

Your answer helps me a lot.

I have another question: Can I make a map object with only one layer containing a georeferenced image?
