When I zoom out on a map which has a large number of features, say downtown in any major city, it takes 20-30 seconds for the map to display.
Is this because of the drawing methods that it takes so long or because there are so many feature objects to deal with at that zoom level, or something else?
What I want to do is NOT draw certain features within the same layer at far out zoom levels. For example, at 10 miles out, I may not be interested in seeing individual streets but only highways. This data exists within the same layer.
The closest thing I find on this is a filterdelegate on a shapefile provider, which seems like it should be more on the data provider level in general. In addition, this would have to be handled on the zoom event or something of that sort.
If you understand my problem, what do you suggest?
