GDAL raster format

I would like to use GDAL capabilities to open raster layer. My first question is: where can I get the list of string format ,ie: in

SharpMap.Layers.GdalRasterLayer("GeoTiff", path.... "GeoTiff" is for geoTiff of course, but what are the strings for other format ?

My second question: is it possible to open MapInfo raster (in .tab) directly with GDAL ?

A list of gdal raster formats can be found here:

Since SharpMap currently relies on FWTools 2.4.7, there may be some limitation.

I did not know MapInfo has its own raster format? If so, its not supported by GDAL.

MapInfo doesn't have its own raster format, but uses two files the first one is raster file (jpeg,bmp,tiff,...) without any coordinates and the .tab file which includes the coordinate informations.

It seems that I have to translate the raster files.

I've translated my .tab raster from MapInfo format to tfw world file format with the freeware tab2tfw.mbx , and that works well. I am able to load the raster in Sharpamp.
